The Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum Etar (Central Bulgaria) will host a ceremony for the Ziva Award for the Best Slavic Museum and for the Best Heritage Site in Slavic countries at the end of September 2024, the Museum said in a press release.

"Forum of Slavic Cultures' Director Andreja Rihter and Ekaterina Djumalieva, member of the jury, visited Gabrovo in order to get acquainted with the conditions for the realization of the ceremony," Etar Museum public relations expert Tihomir Tsurov told BTA.

Rihter and Djumalieva spoke with Gabrovo Mayor Tanya Hristova who backed the initiative. The organizer on the Bulgarian side will be the Etar Museum - winner of one of the two major Ziva awards for 2020, which will also host the ceremony in 2024. The Culture Ministry actively supports the Bulgarian presence in the Forum of Slavic Cultures, through its representative - Cultural Heritage, Museums and Visual Arts Directorate Director Ekaterina Djumalieva.

"The consolidation of the Ziva Award is a foundation for deepening cooperation between museums and professionals from the member countries of the organization,” explained Tsurov.

The details of the ceremony were specified during the talks between Etar Museum Director Svetla Dimitrova, Rihter and Djumalieva. More than 150 representatives of museums and members of the Forum for Slavic Cultures are expected to take part in the event.

During her visit, Rihter also met with the Deputy Culture Minister Chavdar Georgiev, the head of the Culture Ministry’s Department of International Activities, Petar Miladinov, and Djumalieva.

Georgiev congratulated Rihter on her active work for the development and promotion of Slavic cultures. Opportunities for expanding cooperation between the Forum for Slavic Cultures and the Bulgarian Culture Ministry were discussed as well.
