Ats its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers decided to propose to the National Assembly to ratify the Convention on the International Organization of Maritime Navigation, drawn up in Paris on January 27, 2021.
The adoption of the Convention builds on the international regulatory regime for maritime navigation, which is based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea and the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships.
Ratification of the Convention will allow Bulgaria to participate fully in the work on the establishment and validation of standards on maritime aids to navigation and related services, including standards on vessel traffic management systems.
