The Bulgarian Youth Red Cross is holding various initiatives within the summer anti-AIDS campaign in partnership with the Health Ministry, the organization said. The campaign starts on Monday and will be on until the end of August as the final stretch of the National anti-AIDS Campaign.

Volunteers from Plovdiv, Smolyan, Haskovo, Silistra, Pleven, Sliven, Razgrad, Pernik, Montana and other cities across the country, together with experts of the regional health inspectorates, will distribute health educational materials with information about the condition and the possibilities for free and anonymous tests. Training and discussions on AIDS prevention are on the programme too.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among young people and those at risk of infection about the ways for AIDS transmission and prevention and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Between August 14 and 31 the last stretch of the National anti-AIDS Campaign is taking place, said the Health Ministry. Each year the campaign has four stages.

The first one starts on December 1, World AIDS Day. The second stage is on the occasion of February 14 and on the third Sunday of May the third one takes place. Within the initiative, additional possibilities for testing will be provided in August.
