Ilia Zelyamov and Aleksa Mechkova won two gold medals for Bulgaria in the largest standard dance tournament in Europe, the German Open Championships in Stuttgart. 

Zelyamov and Mechkova won the gold in the Juveniles 6 and Standard performances, while coming fourth in Latin dances in competition with couples from Moldova, Romania and Turkiye, among others.

"The awards are a first for Bulgaria in this category in the history of a tournament of such a high rank," Yavor Valchev from the Bulgarian Dance Sport Federation, international judge of the highest category, multiple champion of Bulgaria, finalist of the World and European Cup in Standard Dance, told BTA.
