Pensioners held protests in Skopje on Wednesday with demands for an increase of the minimum pension in line with the minimum working wage and of all pensions, the media in Skopje reported.
Vera Stoajanovska says that it is impossible to live on MKD 12,000 (BGN 380). She says that she still hasn’t bought watermelon because she can’t afford it. According to her the minimum pension should be MKD 25,000 , as living expenses, utilities bills and food expenditures have increased as well.
According to protesters, the current pensions don’t cover the minimum needs for a normal life.
The pensioners said that this is not a party protest. They said that the current pensions are not enough for a decent living.
Pensioners from Kavadarci staged protests too with demands for a minimum pension of MKD 20,000.
