A traditional cross swim of the Danube River at Silistra will be held at 10 am on August 12, said the Town Hall in Silistra. The local authorities and the Danubian Club organize the event. Entrants must undergo a medical examination and instructions.

Dozens of swimmers take part in the event every year. The swim celebrates the river and is not a competition. Traditionally the youngest and the oldest swimmer who make the cross receive prizes.

The 800-m cross swim has taken place since the 40s of the 20th century with interruptions.
