The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry on Saturday issued an advisory to Bulgarian nationals planning to travel to Slovenia to keep updated about the weather and road conditions in the country.

Slovenia has been hit by heavy rains, which have caused floodings, rivers to overflow and have destroyed road infrastructure, says the Ministry, citing information of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry. Rains are expected to continue in the coming days.

Due to the scale of the natural disaster an advisory has been issued to the locals and foreign nationals to stay away from affected areas. Foreign nationals in Slovenia have been asked to leave risk areas.

Bulgarian nationals can contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Slovenia if they need help.

A Code Red warning for rains has been issued for the larger part of Slovenia.
