Tatyana Volozhanina won a gold medal in the Clubs final and a bronze in Ball at the World University Games rhythmic gymnastics tournament in Chengdu, China on Monday. The other Bulgarian taking part in the competition, Lachezara Pekova, finished eighth in Ball.

Volozhanina had a strong performance in her routine on Clubs and scored 30.850 points (15.200 difficulty, 7.950 artistry and 7.800 execution). The Bulgarian staff lodged a complaint about the mark, which was rejected.

The silver medal went to Azerbaijan’s Zohra Aghamirova with a score of 30.850, while third was Japan's Reina Matsusaka with a result of 30.800.

Volozhanina received a score of 31.550 for her Ball composition (15.800 for difficulty, 8.050 for artistry and 7.750 for execution), which earned her third place.

Pekova made significant mistakes in her only final at the Universiade and with 26.050 points (12.200, 7.450, 6.400) she remained in eighth place.

Hungary's Fanni Pigniczki won the gold medal in Ball with 32.650 points, while Kazakhstan’s Elzhana Taniyeva was second with 31.750 points.
