National Tourism Board (NTB) Executive Director Polina Karastoyanova was elected Bulgaria's representative in the newly-established "Together for EU Tourism –T4T" DG GROW expert group with the European Commission, NTB said on Thursday. The expert group, which has a three-year term in office, has the mission to support tourism in the transition to green and digital transformation, as well as in improving the sustainability of the tourism ecosystem.

The expert group was officially set up on June 22, 2023 and includes three sub-groups: Green Transition, Digital Transition and Resilience/Inclusion/Skills.

Karastoyanova was elected to participate in the Green Transition sub-group, which will focus on drafting and proposing political initiatives supporting the easier transition of tourism in green transformation.

Among the members of the expert group are prominent experts and leaders in the tourism industry of Europe, representatives of organizations such as HOTREC, UNWTO, TUI and others.

The next meeting of the working group will take place on September 11, 2023 in Brussels.
