site.btaPresidential Press Office: SJC Plenum Proposal to Remove Prosecutor General from Office Is under Consideration

The proposal of the Supreme Judicial Council Plenum for the pre-term removal from office of the Prosecutor General was filed at the Registry of the Presidential Administration and is under being considered, the Presidential Press Office said Tuesday.

On Monday, the SJC voted to dismiss Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev for undermining the prestige of the judiciary. The motion for Geshev's removal was made by four members of the Prosecutors Chamber and was backed by 16 votes with four voting against it.

The next – and final - step in the procedure for Geshev's removal is that President Rumen Radev has to decide whether or not to issue a decree for his removal upon receiving the motion.
