At its regular sitting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved 21 national education development programmes. Two of them are new.

The aim of one of them is for students to acquire knowledge through experience outside school, in a real environment, through various educational itineraries that include sites in the thematic areas of: history and archaeology; geography and economics; biology, biodiversity and ecology; arts, architecture and literature; ethnography, folklore and crafts. Another goal of the programme will be to contribute to the personal and civic development of students, as well as their patriotic education. There will also be opportunities for joint initiatives with cultural and scientific institutions, such as museums, galleries, theatres, planetariums, observatories, research institutes, public libraries, etc. The programme also will aim to build on the teaching of Bulgarian language and literature, Bulgarian history and Bulgarian geography organized abroad through extra-curricular activities related to the preservation of national identity and culture.

The Untold Stories of Bulgarians NP will give students the opportunity to enrich their knowledge of Bulgaria in the archives through research and exploration of the Bulgarian cultural and historical heritage and the contribution of contemporary Bulgarians to the civilizational development of their country/region/village. This programme will help the Bulgarian state and the Bulgarian Sunday schools abroad to engage the local community by presenting the research results in patriotism lessons, forums and meetings.

The implementation of the state policy related to the preservation and promotion of the Bulgarian linguistic and ethno-cultural space abroad will continue. The programmes for the implementation and promotion of innovations in schools and kindergartens will continue to work in the next school year.
