April 14 (BTA) - European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi has asked for four new Bulgarian candidates for European Delegated Prosecutors, it emerged from Wednesday's meeting here of the Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council. Kovesi said in a letter to the Prosecutors Chamber that the three investigators and the only judge proposed by Bulgaria had been rejected because they lacked the required experience.

On February 13, the Prosecutors Chamber elected ten European Delegated Prosecutors to carry out investigations in Bulgaria on behalf of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO). Those included investigators Bisserka Stoyanova, Preslava Petkova and Maya Kovacheva and judge Hristo Krachounov. The other six candidates are prosecutors.

Three Bulgarian candidates were appointed on April 7: Dimiter Belichev, Boyko Kalfin and Svetlana Shopova.

The selection procedure is under way for another three candidates: Veronika Trifonova, Ventsislav Ferdinandov and Bozhidara Ganeva-Dimova.

The Prosecutors Chamber accepted Kovesi's letter for information and its members agreed to wait for EPPO to make a decision about those candidates before deciding on its course of action. RI/DD
