site.btaOver 2,500 New COVID-19 Cases, 125 Deaths on Wednesday

April 15 (BTA) - A total of 2,517 new COVID-19 cases were
 registered in Bulgaria on Wednesday by 15,297 tests, show data
posted on coronavirus.bg early on Thursday. The test positivity
rate is 16.45 per cent.

The most confirmed cases were reported in Sofia - 599, followed
by Plovdiv - 228 and Varna - 177.

A total of 380,576 COVID-19 cases have been registered in
Bulgaria since the start of the pandemic, of which 68,707 are
active.

A total of 9,685 people are hospitalized, of whom 807 in
intensive care units.

A total of 12,729 medical staff are reported to be infected.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 on
Wednesday is 3,647, bringing the total to 296,998.

The number of deaths reported since the start of the pandemic is
 14,871, of which 125 were on Wednesday.

A total of 605,377 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered
 so far, of which 14,882 on Wednesday. A total of 119,879 people

The national coronavirus task force has been disbanded as of
Thursday, the Government Information Service said. The task
force was set up by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in February
2020 to organize and coordinate the efforts of the state bodies
handling the COVID-19 public health emergency of international
concern declared by the WHO.

Later on Thursday, the Health Ministry said that outgoing Health
 Minister Kostadin Angelov and Chief State Health Inspector
Angel Kunchev would continue to inform the public about the
spread of COVID-19, the epidemic-control measures and all
