Iratxe Garcia Perez, who is President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, and two ranking Socialist Members of the European Parliament, Petar Vitanov of Bulgaria and Dan Nica of Romania, have issued a joint declaration insisting on a serious debate about the admission of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area.
