PM Petkov: Bulgaria Must Be
Prepared for All Scenarios due to
NATO, Ukraine, Russia Escalations

Sofia, February 11 (BTA) - The escalating tensions between NATO, Ukraine and Russia must keep this country prepared for all kinds of scenarios, PM Kiril Petkov told journalists in the National Assembly lobby on Friday. He added that there is a constant dialogue between the EU Member States, who are trying to agree on a solution.

When asked about Bulgargaz, Petkov commented that changing the board of directors seems to have afflicted the interests of some large lobbyists, who are now trying "all sorts of PR campaigns". He added that he instructed all state agencies to respond to all alerts they receive. "For the first time, the agencies are free to investigate any alert, no matter which political party submitted it."

When asked whether he is worried by the prosecution service's term being longer than the government's, Petkov denied being troubled by this government's longevity. "I believe that everyone, the Bulgarian people would benefit from Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev's resignation. Even Mr Geshev himself would benefit from resigning," Petkov said. RY/NZ
