at Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint
Haskovo, Southern Bulgaria, February 15 (BTA) - Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint seized nine service pistols and fillers of various make on February 11. The weapons were found on a truck with Turkish registration plates, carrying a cargo from Turkey to Germany.
Pre-trial proceedings on the case have been opened. The driver, a Turkish citizen, has been detained. He may be released on bail, but may not leave Bulgaria, except at the express permission of the prosecution. His international travel documents have also been temporarily withheld. /RY/BR
