Sofia, August 13 (BTA) - No passengers with any symptoms of Ebola have been registered or quarantined at Sofia Airport, the airport press office said here Wednesday. The airport is monitoring all arrivals with thermal cameras that were initially mounted for arrivals monitoring during a swine flu scare several years ago.
The Ebola monitoring is done at Terminal 2 which handles most of the international flights.
When the camera shows an alert, the passenger is isolated and directed for medical examination.
Sofia Airport has no direct services to Africa.
Due to the long stopovers that some passengers have at the large international airports before flying to Sofia, Sofia Airport has decided to screen all arrivals.
In July, the airport handled a total of 362,800 passengers at Terminals 1 and 2.
