Prime Minister: Budget Update Inevitable

Dobrich, Northeastern Bulgaria, September 25 (BTA) - A budget
update is inevitable and there is a consensus in society on that
matter, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki told journalists in
Dobrich on Thursday. He commented that if there were some doubts
on the eve of the disbanding of Parliament in early August when
Plamen Oresharski's cabinet proposed a budget update, which was
not backed by its own majority, now society has reached a
consensus that it must happen.

Bliznashki said that early next week the update proposal would
be presented to the government's social partners - employers and
trade unions. A bill will then be drafted to be introduced in
Parliament as soon as the 43rd National Assembly is constituted
after the October 5 elections.

Asked about Bulgaria's preparedness for a possible gas crisis,
the Prime Minister said that the government was well informed
about the necessary volume and that in early September he signed
an order that the Chiren gas storage facility be filled up to
ensure the maximum reserves.

The Prime Minister was in Dobrich for the celebration of the day
of the town and the 74th anniversary of the return of Southern
Dobroudja to Bulgaria.
