Sofia, October 15 (BTA) - Vice President Margarita Popova
Wednesday said that this year marks the 65th anniversary of
Bulgarian-Chinese diplomatic relations and she is proud that
Bulgaria was the second country to recognize the People's
Republic of China. Popova was speaking after a working meeting
with a delegation from Shanghai at the Presidency, the
presidential press secretariat said.

At the meeting with the Chinese delegation, Popova underscored
the traditionally very good relations between the two countries
in various spheres. "The development of bilateral ties was
surely boosted by the state visit of President Rosen Plevneliev
to China earlier this year, during which relations of
comprehensive friendly partnership and cooperation were
established," Popova noted.

Yin Yicui, Chair of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai
Municipal People Congress, thanked for the hospitality and said
that the dynamics and strengthening of the bilateral relations
of common interest should continue.

Popova and Yin Yicui agreed that China is an important partner
of Bulgaria in Asia, and outlined as potential spheres for the
bilateral relations' development the areas of agriculture,
investments, infrastructure and tourism.

The Bulgarian Vice President expressed the will for further
development of bilateral contacts in the spheres of art and
culture by extending the work with children and young people,
because "it is best for children to communicate with their peers
and live in peace and understanding", Popova is quoted as
saying.
