GERB Party to Count on ABV's Support for Important Government Decisions

Sofia, October 23 (BTA) - The election-winning GERB party said
on Thursday it is seeking support for a future centre-right
government, but it will also count on the support of the
left-wing ABV party for all important government decisions.

The news was unveiled by GERB's Roumyana Buchvarova after talks
with ABV about the formation of the new government. The meeting
was part of a second round of talks between GERB and four other
parliamentary parties in the wake of the October 5 parliamentary
elections. ABV was represented at the meeting by Ivailo Kalfin,
Roumen Petkov, Rossitsa Yanakieva and Kiril Tsochev.

GERB described the talks as constructive. Buchvarova noted that
the two sides have come closer together in their views on two
more points compared to the first round of the talks: the
judicial reform and the security sector.

Kalfin said the negotiations about a future government coalition
are not over for ABV. The party would support a coalition
involving GERB and the second-major force, the left-wing
Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). "A centre-right coalition is
not something that ABV will likely join, but that does not mean
that we will not support individual policies," Kalfin said.

GERB said they are still waiting for BSP to say where and when
they would like to meet with them. MORE
