Parliament Elects Ad Hoc Committees of Legal Matters
and
Budget
Sofia, October 29 (BTA) - At its first regular meeting
Wednesday, the new Bulgarian Parliament elected two ad hoc
committees: of legal matters and of budget and finance. They
will work until standing committees are formed.
Danail Kirilov of GERB was elected to chair the legal committee
and GERB's Menda Stoyanova will head the budget and finance
committee.
Both committees will have 20 members, including seven
representatives of GERB, three each of the Bulgarian Socialist
Party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, two each of the
Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front and one each from the
Bulgarian Democratic Centre, Ataka and ABV.
The budget and finance committee has until Friday, when
Parliament is holding its next sitting, to prepare an opinion on
a central bank report on the situation in the ailing Corporate
Commercial Bank (Corpbank), and report to the deputies. The
report was submitted to Parliament on Monday shortly after its
inaugural meeting.
Having placed the bank under special supervision in June 2014
after a liquidity crisis, the central bank expects Corpbank to
report a negative capital in which case it will have its licence
revoked - unless the legislature adopt changes in the
legislation to allow a different course of action. PK/LN
