EC Accepts Idea to Build Hemus Motorway with EU Funding and Loans - Transport Minister

Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications
Nikolina Angelkova took part in yet another meeting with the
European Commission here about the new OP Transport and
Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020.

The most difficult negotiations are the ones about the Hemus
motorway, Angelkova said. "I believe that we managed to convince
the Commission about the importance of including it in this
programme," the Minister noted. She voiced hope that the
negotiations about this will be completed during next week's
video conference.

"I believe that next week we will succeed in concluding the
informal and start the formal part," Angelkova said. Answering a
question, she said that the EC accepts the idea to provide
European funding for the completion of the motorway's section
between Sofia and Veliko Turnovo (Central Bulgaria). The section
between Veliko Turnovo and Belokopitovo (Northeast Bulgaria)
can be constructed with a loan from the European Investment
Bank, she added.
