40 Kg of Heroin Seized in Special SANS Operation in Plovdiv


Sofia, November 5 (BTA) - The State Agency for National Security
(SANS) conducted a special operation in the southern city of
Plovdiv, which resulted in the seizure of 40 kg of heroin, said
the Agency's press centre on Wednesday. According to expert
assessments, the market value of the seized drug comes out to
around 4,000,000 leva.

On November 4, SANS and police officers carried out an operation
for intercepting drug trafficking. A total of 78 packages,
containing heroin and weighing around 40 kg were found in a car,
driven by a Turkish national. The suspect was arrested for 24
hours.

The Plovdiv District Prosecution Office was informed about the
case and has initiated pre-trial proceedings.

The operation included searches of cars and residences in a few
cities across the country. There is information about another
accomplice in the case. The investigation continues, SANS said.
