MRF Leader Mestan:
We Won't Support
Anti-European Coalition

Sofia, November 6 (BTA) - Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF)
leader Lyutvi Mestan told journalists in Parliament on Thursday
that "his party won't support this anti-European coalition,
even if they were asked on bended knees". Mestan reacted to a
statement Wednesday by GERB leader Boyko Borissov urging the MRF
not to support the future government.

Mestan said that the MRF will vote against the unprincipled
coalition of GERB and the Reformist Bloc with the Patriotic
Front. He said that Borissov's statement "suggested" concern and
fear of being wrongly accused of an explicit or a covert union
with the MRF.

"The masks are down. The coalition with the Patriotic Front
shows a thirst for power in whose name the right has struck an
alliance with national populism," the MRF leader said. Referring
to the Reformist Bloc, Mestan said that behind the mask he saw
a mouth hungry for power, which managed to snap seven
ministerial portfolios with 23 seats in the legislature only.

Of the possible participation of ABV in the future government,
Mestan said that for years Georgi Purvanov has been accused
undeservedly of being the architect of the three-party coalition
between the Bulgarian Socialist Party, the National Movement
for Surge and Stability and the MRF, which governed between 2005
and 2009. "The architect of our coalition was the voter. There
was no other formula to form a government at the time. However,
those who accused Purvanov of being the architect have struck a
union with him," said Mestan. PK/PP
