International Enforcers Block
129 Bulgarian
"Deep Web" Sites
Sofia, November 7 (BTA) - An international anti-organized crime
operation blocked 129 Bulgarian "deep web" sites, or "hidden
web" sites, which are considered a haven for serious
criminality, Bulgaria's State Agency for National Security
reported on Friday.
The sites were used to distribute child abuse content, payment
platform profiles and information about credit cards, drugs,
arms, contract murders, illicit bitcoin mining and money
laundering.
The international operation was carried out on Thursday by
government agencies in 16 European countries, the United States
and Canada with the coordinating support of Europol and
Eurojust.
The effort was aimed to block websites distributing and
promoting illegal goods and services and to arrest the organized
criminals administrating and using the sites.
Worldwide, the effort blocked and withdrew over 410 deep web
domains. The enforcers made 17 arrests of persons who maintained
and administrated the domains. They impounded bitcoin (virtual
currency) worth over one million US dollars, 180,000 euro, gold,
silver and drugs. VI/VE
