Agrarian Popular Union
Re-elects
Leader
Sofia, November 9 (BTA) - The regular 40th congress of the
Agrarian Popular Union (APU) re-elected Roumen Yonchev as the
formation's leader, APU said in a press release on Saturday. The
congress also celebrated the 115th anniversary of the
establishment of the Agrarian Union. The delegates to the forum
noted APU's election success at the two latest elections. In the
new 43rd National Assembly APU has two MPs, Roumen Yonchev, and
Yavor Haitov, who is one of the Deputy Chairs of Parliament.
In his address to the congress Yonchev said that APU supported
the bid of right-wing GERB leader Boyko Borissov for prime
minister because "Borissov hands should not be twisted".
However, the party voted against the composition of the newly
appointed Council of Ministers because "it is very weak indeed",
Yonchev said. Borissov's cabinet was voted in on Friday.
