Bulgaria Wants to Share in Common Gas Market of Visegrad Group

Sofia, November 11 (BTA) - Speaking at a joint news conference
with Hungarian President Janos Ader in Sofia Tuesday, Bulgarian
President Rosen Plevneliev said he has told his guest that
Bulgaria definitely wants to share in the building of an
integrated regional gas market of the countries of the Visegrad
Group.

Plevneliev noted that this is a project to diversify Central
Europe's energy sources and enhance the region's energy
security, and Bulgaria is very interested in the initiative. He
said that Bulgaria and Hungary favour projects aimed at
diversifying energy supplies and finding new gas sources. The
two nations will work to connect national energy systems, he
added.

The Visegrad 4+ format, which includes Bulgaria, Hungary, the
Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Romania, is very important
to Bulgaria in all its dimensions, Plevneliev said. He described
Hungary as one of Bulgaria's major trade and economic partners
in Central Europe, with over one billion euro of annual trade
going between the two countries and substantial Hungarian
investment flowing into the Bulgarian economy.

The governments of Bulgaria and Hungary want to encourage the
implementation of joint projects, the shared expansion into
third markets, the connection of the national energy systems and
the development of infrastructure, Plevneliev said. MORE /VI/VE
