Check Finds Failure in Court
Case Random
Distribution System

Sofia, November 27 (BTA) - A check by the Supreme Judicial
Council (SJC) has established failures in the system for the
random distribution of court cases. This transpired at the SJC
meeting on Thursday.

The check was prompted by concerns about irregularities in the
selection of a judge to try the insolvency case of Corporate
Commercial Bank and aimed to establish how the magistrate was
picked up.

The Sofia City Court explained that the protocol for the initial
selection of a judge was not sent to SJC due to Internet
connection problems. The SJC check, however, found no evidence
in support of this allegation.

"The reason for the failure to submit the report is not yet
clear but it has certainly not been pointed out by the court,"
SJC member Kalin Kalpakchiev said. He added that there are
serious doubts about manipulations and that adequate measures
should be taken. /LN/TK/
