Experts to Discuss Ways of
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Ahead of 2015 UN Climate Change Conference

Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - Opportunities should be sought and
creative solutions and new production models should be put
forward ahead of the Conference of the Parties to the UN
Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris in November
2015, said French Ambassador to Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyre de
Cabanes. He was speaking at the opening of a conference on
"Territory Management and Sustainable Development" at the French
Institute in Sofia Friday.

Sustainable development is taken into consideration everywhere,
including in Bulgaria, the Ambassador said. In his words, the
questions related to climate change require both local and
global solutions. Next year will be dedicated to various events
with the participation of state authorities and nongovernmental
organizations, giving an opportunity for discussions and
formulation of solutions, he added.

Environment and Water Minister Ivelina Vassileva said that a new
global agreement will be signed in Paris next year which will
contain an action plan with specific targets and measures to be
undertaken by the Parties for the mitigation of climate change's
consequences and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The
global agreement should enter into force in 2020.

Vassileva outlined chronologically the good cooperation between
Bulgaria and France in the sphere of environmental protection.
In her words, at present experts of the two countries are
analysing water use in Bulgaria in the 2007-2013 period. "We
intend to continue the active cooperation with our French
colleagues," Vassileva said.
