Sofia Regional Governor Rules Out Resignation


Sofia, November 29 (BTA) - Sofia Regional Governor Vesselin
Penev said on Saturday that he won't resign from his post. He
was speaking to journalists ahead of a conference of Democrats
for Strong Bulgaria, which he attended as a guest.

The Patriotic Front threatened to withdraw its support for the
cabinet over Penev's appointment and that of Deputy Defence
Minister Orhan Ismailov.

Penev and Ismailov are members of the Freedom and Dignity
People's Party within the Reformist Bloc which is seen as a
pro-Turkish party.

Penev said he had the necessary professional background and
expressed willingness to meet with PF co-leader Valeri Simeonov.
