MRF Leader Mestan:"Early Elections in 2015 Will Be Inevitable unless GERB Disowns Patriotic Front"

Kurdjali, South Central Bulgaria, December 26 (BTA) - "I am
pessimistic about 2015 because GERB did not dissociate
themselves from the Patriotic Front; therefore, early
parliamentary elections in 2015 are an inevitable necessity,"
Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Lyutvi Mestan told
a news conference near Kurdjali on Friday. He does not see this
as issuing an ultimatum to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov but as
an objective analysts of developments since the May 2014
elections.

Mestan was adamant that the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic
Front have formed a mini coalition, the two entities are "just
the right match for each other", and their alliance is "on the
whole retrograde" and distorts democracy in Bulgaria. In this
connection, the MRF leader argued that if Borissov wants his
second cabinet to be a success, "he will have to get rid of this
xenophobic milestone". "Otherwise, there will be much reformist
 talk without reforms."

Mestan said that it is time to include in the history textbooks
the Bulgarian Turks' forced name change 30 years ago and the
renaming of residents of the Central and Southwestern Rhodopi
Mountains 42 years ago.

As to the 15 written statements drawn up against him for
speaking in Turkish at election campaign events, experts are
categorical that this does not violate the Election Code and, if
necessary, Mestan will take his case to the court in
Strasbourg, he said.
