in Istanbul Tourism
Exhibition
Istanbul, January 23 (BTA special by Nahide Deniz) - The 19th
East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition
Emitt 2015 opened in Istanbul on Thursday. Unlike previous
years, Bulgaria is participating solo over an area of 99 sq. m,
presenting 24 Bulgarian travel agencies, local governments and
tourism associations.
The exhibition brings together nearly 4,000 companies from 70
countries on 65,000 sq. m in the Tuyap Fair Convention and
Congress Centre.
Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova attended the opening
ceremony. Within the framework of the exhibition the Minister
conferred with Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas and senior officials
of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Angelkova underscored that the Turkish representatives expressed
willingness to cooperate in experience exchange and development
of common products for remote markets such as China and Japan.
Angelkova suggested that Days of Bulgaria are held in Istanbul
and other Turkish cities, which will put the spotlight on
Bulgaria's beauty, winter and spa resorts.
The Minister said that Turkey's largest travel agencies are
expected to visit Bulgaria in March in a bid to arouse interest
in the country.
On the agenda were possibilities for investments in Bulgaria's
tourism, said Angelkova. Bulgaria has suggested to Turkey a
satellite town development near one of the three largest cities,
Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna, to where there are direct flight
services. Also, Bulgaria will appoint a tourism attache to
Turkey, which will be in charge of Bulgaria's promotion on
Turkey's tourism market.
A forum titled A Discovery to Share and focused on Bulgaria's
potential as a year-round tourist destination took place in
Tuyap Convention Centre under the chairmanship of Minister
Angelkova. PK/PP
