First Concert in Bulgaria

Sofia, February 4 (BTA) - The world-renowned U.K. based Academy
of St Martin in the Fields will be one of the highlights of the
2015 European Music Festival. Their concert in Sofia will take
place on April 6, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Bulgaria Hall, the

organized with the support of Sofia City Hall, will begin at the
end of March and will continue until the middle of June.

The programme will feature Elgar's "Serenade", Britten's "Simple
Symphony" and Dvorak's "Serenade for Strings".

The legendary British chamber orchestra will also give a concert
in Varna (on the Black Sea) on April 7.

The European Music Festival was founded in 2001. Its goal is to
present to Sofia concert-goers prominent Bulgarian and
international classical music stars. The festival's program is
designed to include a variety of musical genres. In combining
different approaches to classical music, the festival aims to
expand its audiences' knowledge and experience. Every year, each
new edition builds upon the idea of bringing to life values of
the past in a new era. Over the years, festival participants
were world-renowned artists and ensembles, such as Nigel
Kennedy, Richard Clayderman, Mischa Maisky, Gidon Kremer,
Pinchas Zukerman, David Walter, I Solisti Veneti - conducted by
Claudio Scimone, the Kremerata Baltica Chamber Orchestra,
Zukerman Chamber Players, the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra,
the Moscow City Symphony "Russian Philharmonic" conducted by
Dmitri Jurowski, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow
Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and the Budapest Chamber Orchestra,
among many others.

This year's edition of the festival, which is part of Sofia City
Hall's calendar of cultural events for 2015, will also feature
a concert of virtuoso violinist Mila Georgieva with the Classic
FM Radio Orchestra, a recital of Spanish pianist Judith
Jauregui, Bach's Matthaeus Passion before Easter and the
Beltango Symphonico project from Serbia.

The festival will be held under the auspices of Deputy Prime
Minister Rumyana Buchvarova and Sofia Mayor Yordanka
Fandakova./PK/BR
