Second-instance Court Confirms Prison
Sentence of Former Interior
Minister Tsvetanov

Sofia, February 9 (BTA) - The Sofia Appellate Court Monday
upheld the four-year prison sentence of former Interior Minister
Tsvetan Tsvetanov for impeding the criminal prosecution against
four persons.

Tsvetanov was Interior Minister in the first GERB government
between 2009 and 2013.

The second-instance court effectively confirmed the decision of
Sofia City Court (SCC) of late May 2014 that Tsvetanov was
responsible for not allowing use of special surveillance means
against the former director of the organized crime squad in the
North-Central Bulgarian town of Veliko Turnovo, Orlin Todorov.
Tsvetanov wrote "No!!!" on a surveillance warrant undersigned
by a judge when the law only allowed him to enforce a court
warrant. LY/LN/
