PES President Stanishev: There Will Be No Efficient Security Cooperation in EU while Bulgaria, Romania Are Outside Schengen
Madrid/Sofia, February 21 (BTA) - Addressing a meeting of
European socialist leaders Saturday in Madrid, Party of European
Socialists (PES) President Sergei Stanishev said that there
won't be efficient cooperation in the field of security in the
EU, while Bulgaria and Romania are outside Schengen. He added
that this went against European standards and in the light of a
recent terror wave in Europe is neither effective, nor fair.
Stanishev has begun a series of meetings in Madrid on the issue
of Bulgaria's entry to Schengen.
Meanwhile, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Mihail Mikov
and Spanish Socialist Workers' Party leader Pedro Sanchez
conferred in Madrid.
Mikov and Sanchez discussed political developments in Spain and
Bulgaria, the situation in Europe, the Ukrainian crisis and the
repercussions of sanctions against Russia on countries such as
Bulgaria.
