Ivailo Spiridonov  Appointed as Director of Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime


Sofia, February 24 (BTA) - Criminal Police Deputy Director
Ivailo Spiridonov has been appointed as Director of the Chief
Directorate for Combatting Organized Crime (CDCOC), Interior
Minister Vesselin Vouchkov told journalists on Tuesday.

Spiridonov has been appointed on this position for a term of one
year. Minister Vouchkov explained that the temporary
appointment is due to the ongoing transformation of the
Directorate. It will be clear in several months' time whether
the new Director would manage to form a team and yield results.
As of Tuesday, CDCOC is transferred back from the jurisdiction
of the State Agency for National Security to the one of the
Interior Ministry. After the restructuring, the staff of CDCOC
is not likely to exceed 600 people, Vouchkov explained.

The Interior Minister said that hitherto Sofia Directorate of
the Interior Deputy Director Hristo Terziiski will be appointed
as Director of the National Police.
