Bulgaria's GDP for 2014 Grows in Real Terms by 1.7% from 2013, Preliminary Data Show


Sofia, March 6 (BTA) - In 2014, Bulgaria's gross domestic
product (GDP) amounted to 82,164 million leva at current prices,
 or 42,010 million euro (5,808 euro per person). This is an
increase in real terms by 1.7 per cent compared to 2013, show
preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute
on Friday.

In October-December 2014,  the GDP amounted to 22,692 million
leva at current prices, or 11,602 million euro (1,607 euro per
person). According to seasonally adjusted figures, the GDP
growth rate in the last quarter of 2014 was 1.3 per cent
compared to the like period of 2013 and 0.4 per cent compared to
 July-September 2014.
   
In the fourth quarter of 2014, the GDP per employed person
increased by 1.5 per cent from the like period of 2013. The
number of people engaged in Bulgaria's economy stood at
3,259,600. A total of 1,370.1 million hours of work were
reported. Every employed person generated 16.56 leva on average
per one hour of work.

In October-December 2014 compared to the last quarter of 2013,
the gross value added (GVA) grew by 0.6 per cent on average both
 per employed person and per one hour of work.

In the last quarter of 2014, the level of labour productivity
was the highest in the services sector, 6,694.1 leva of GVA on
average per employed person and 15.5 leva per man-hour. In
industry, each employed person generated 5,870.0 leva of GVA on
average and 13.8 leva per man-hour. The lowest level of labour
productivity was reported in agriculture, 1,360.3 leva of GVA
per employed person and 3.6 leva per man-hour.
