Illegal Migrants Arrested in Large-scale Operation

Sofia, October 31 (BTA) - In a country-wide operation directed
by the prosecuting magistracy on Friday, the Interior Ministry
and the State Agency for National Security found 495 illegal
migrants, arrested 16 human traffickers and took measures
against 525 persons involved in offences against the citizens'
political rights, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
Twenty-seven persons on the national wanted list were arrested.

All directorates of the Interior Ministry contributed a total of
 2,749 police officers to the operation, during which they
checked 2,895 sites, 12,820 persons and 5,987 vehicles.

Early on Saturday 129 undocumented foreigners, including 58
children, were found in a refrigerator truck at the Kapitan
Andreevo checkpoint (on the border with Turkey). The  driver, a
Turkish national, was bound for Romania. The foreigners claim
they are Syrians. Their identity is being verified at Svilengrad
 police department.
