ABV Leader Purvanov Invites Left Wing to Immediate Dialogue

Sofia, November 2 (BTA) - ABV Party leader Georgi Purvanov invited the left-wing parties and coalitions to immediate dialogue without preconditions. Commenting on the second round of voting in the local elections, he told a news conference on Monday that "the Left in Bulgaria has hit rock bottom".

Purvanov said that the Left should start talking about jointly nominating candidates for the presidential elections in 2016. He said ABV was open to primaries, which would mobilize the Left's sympathizers. "We will suggest a mechanism, and we can nominate candidates," said Purvanov. The Left will not be successful without deep changes. ABV is ready to start a discussion on the contemporary patriotic Left.

Purvanov said the party did well in the local elections. ABV deputy leader Roumen Petkov noted that more than 150 municipal councillors were elected, of whom more than 100 on the party's list. More than 65 mayors were elected, two of them in Sofia. More than 45 municipal mayors were elected with ABV's support. Over 130,000 voters supported ABV municipal councillors. "If ABV participation in coalitions is factored in, our voters will be around 180,000 or 190,000," said Petkov. He stated that the party did not buy a single vote.
