Bulgaria for Citizens Movement to Move for Machine Ballot Counting

Sofia, November 3 (BTA) - MPs of the Bulgaria for the Citizens
Movement (BCM) will table a proposal on Tuesday for the
introduction of ballot counting machines. This transpired from a
statement to journalists by BCM deputy leader Nestimir Ananiev
after a meeting of the Executive Council in the wake of the
local elections.

The BCM will coordinate the change with their partners in the
Reformist Bloc, but the movement says that this will improve the
 efficiency of ballot counting.

Under the proposal, each of the 12,000 polling stations will be
equipped with a ballot counting machine which costs around 1,000
leva. Ananiev said that BCM's aim is for machine and electronic
 voting to be introduced gradually.

The BCM will suggest that the members of the section election
commissions be reduced to five from seven currently, which will
bring down expenditures for salaries.

BCM said that the showing of the Reformist Bloc in the local
elections was very good and reported a breakthrough in smaller
places such as Kubrat and regions with mixed population. Dimiter
Delchev, head of BCM's election HQ, said that of the four
regional capitals for the Reformist Bloc, in two the mayors are
affiliated with the BCM and in other two with the Union of
Democratic Forces.

BCM leader Meglena Kuneva said that the Reformist Bloc will
request a meeting with the Prime Minister as soon as possible in
order to implement the best working solutions and make good on
promises to people.
