GERB:Ruling Coalition Is Stable

Sofia, December 18 (BTA) - "The ruling coalition is stable and if someone tries to undermine artificially the faith in it, the consequence will be as if from a storm in a teacup," says a declaration read on behalf of the GERB parliamentary group by Tsveta Karayancheva in Parliament.

Earlier in the day, during the debates on the election of Ekaterina Zaharieva as Justice Minister, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Leader Lyutvi Mestan said the following: "MRF considers that there is an objective need of early general elections not to halt the reforms but, just the opposite, because this Government is not capable of generating reforms."

The ruling parliamentary majority has performed the biggest possible portion of legislative activities planned, while the adoption of the national budget guaranteed the normal functioning of all sectors in the country, said Karayancheva. "The biggest step, which we assess as positive and truly reformist, is the attainment of the historic political consensus for the adoption of the constitutional changes."

The declaration goes on to say that the Government has clearly formulated goals and priorities, that it has restored the confidence of the European and world partners and that the reforms of the ruling majority and the Cabinet are irreversible.

The economy marked a three per cent growth; due to the surplus revenues, the Government was able to extend Christmas and Easter bonuses to the pensioners. GERB note that the Prime Minister and his team has been successful in fully unfreezing financing for Bulgaria under the EU programmes and that the retrofitting programme is implemented successfully.

"Against this background, we, the parties from the ruling parliamentary majority are obliged to keep supporting the Government," reads the declaration. The GERB party is determined to make reforms. However these should not be reforms at any cost but ones that have been carefully thought out and are based on a debate and real parliamentary support, which are in the service of society and guarantee long-term result, GERB also say in the declaration.

GERB declare that the reform in the judiciary will continue and anyone alleging the opposite is a manipulator. This is guaranteed by the upcoming changes in the Judiciary Act and the procedural laws, according to them.
