Sofia, December 20 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister Kornelia Ninova, who is also Economy and Industry Minister, Monday discussed electricity prices, the business climate and measures to support the economy with the employers' organizations, Ninova's Ministry said.

A compensatory mechanism for businesses is expected to be announced in a matter of days in the wake of the moratorium imposed on the decisions of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) last week, Ninova told a briefing after the meeting. This was one of the three short-term business support measures discussed at the meeting, Ninova added.

Second, the 80/20 and 60/40 short-term measures in support of companies affected by COVID restrictions were also on the agenda, with a proposal that they should continue beyond January 1, Ninova said.

The third short-term measure is that the business community can make proposals for the drafting of the 2022 State Budget Act.

"We will insist on the provision of compensation to businesses in December to mitigate the surge in the electricity price," Ninova said.

Reducing the administrative burden, linking education to the economy to have trained staff, and the financing of companies, especially small, medium and micro enterprises, are among the medium-term business support measures.

"In the long term, we will work together on that part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that supports small, medium and micro enterprises so that the Bulgarian economy can benefit from the funds allocated to it," Ninova said.
