Sofia, November 3 (BTA) - The Kozloduy N-plant's Unit 5 received a ten-year operating license extension on Friday. The license was presented here on Friday by the head of the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency, Luchezar Kostov, to the Executive Director of the Kozloduy N-plant, Ivan Andreev.

Kostov said that Unit 5's license renewal coincides with the expiration of its 30 year design life. He explained that this procedure is conducted for the first time in Bulgaria, but is common practice internationally.

Andreev noted that the N-plant's Unit 6 will reach the end of its service life in 2021, while its operating license is good until October 3, 2019. He said that all necessary documents for its license renewal must be ready by next October.

Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova, who attended the ceremony, noted that the Kozloduy N-plant is working exceptionally well and is in a very good financial state.
