site.btaBulgarian Foreign Ministry Condemns Desecration of Soviet Army Monument in Plovdiv

Sofia, November 11 (BTA) - In a statement on Friday the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry denounced the latest act of vandalism against a monument to the Soviet Army in the southern town of Plovdiv, which was covered with Nazi symbols and anti-semitic slogans.

Such acts of desecration are utterly unacceptable and run counter to the traditional tolerance of the Bulgarian society and Bulgaria's commitments within the EU and various international organization to counter racism, xenophobia and hate crimes.

The Foreign Ministry expresses hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
