site.btaFake Documents Scheme Busted in Sofia and Plovdiv

Sofia, November 12 (BTA) - A criminal group involved in making and distribution of fake documents was intercepted by officers of the Criminal Police, the Economic Police and the Investigative Service with the National Police Force Chief Directorate, the Economic Police with the Regional Police Force Directorate in Plovdiv and the Sofia Inspectorate of the Interior under the supervision of the Sofia Regional Prosecution Office, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday.

The specialized police operation was carried out on the territory of the cities of Sofia and Plovdiv. Five participants in the scheme have been detained: Т. G. (51), M.S. (38), G.B. (28), A.K. (30) and V.G. (19).

Searches of houses and automobiles were carried out. A printing press, a large amount of fake documents - ID cards, driving licences, foreign travel passports and permits for the carriage of hazardous goods, and fake currency were seized. Investigation and clarification of the case continues.
