Sofia, November 26 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov talked with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the telephone on Sunday, the government information service said. The two gave high marks to Bulgarian-Turkish relations and cooperation in NATO, as well as to the two countries' interaction in maintaining security along the EU's external borders.

The sides commented on the progress in the construction of Bulgaria's gas interconnectors with Turkey and Greece, which are to ensure this country's energy independence.

These topics will be further discussed during the upcoming visit by Turkey's EU Affairs Minister Omer Celik.

President Erdogan said Monday's visit to Bulgaria by Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ahmet Esref Fakibaba, who will participate in a Bulgarian-Turkish agribusiness forum, would help to boost relations in agriculture and agricultural science.

Erdogan congratulated Borissov on his re-election as GERB's leader, saying that his leadership was a guarantee of the good relations between the two countries.
