site.bta1,872 Confirmed COVID-19 Cases in Bulgaria

May 8 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 1,872 by 5 p.m. on Friday according to figures released by the national coronavirus task force, the Health Ministry said.

A total of 379 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized, of whom 49 are in intensive care.

Five of the new COVID-19 cases are children aged 7 to 18, national coronavirus task force secretary Assoc. Prof. Dimo Dimov told a morning briefing.

A total of 401 patients have recovered, Dimov said.

Two hundred and one members of the medical staff have been infected, or 11 per cent of all cases. There have been 86 COVID-19 fatalities. NV,RI/MT,PP
