Sofia, February 28 (BTA) - The COVID vaccination of non-priority groups resumes on Sunday, the Health Ministry said. When there are not enough people from Phase One to Four priority groups at the vaccination hubs, they can administer vaccines to non-priority groups.

Krasimir Gigov, head of the national vaccination task force, has instructed Ivan Madjarov, Chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Lyubomir Kirov, Chairman of the National Association of General Practitioners, and the directors of the regional health inspectorates that all doses of the multidose vials of the vaccines available in Bulgaria must be used.

A further 52,800 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine were delivered to Bulgaria on Sunday. Half of them will go to general practitioners, Executive Drug Agency Director Bogdan Kirilov told reporters. The distribution of the vaccines among the regional health inspectorates started immediately. The inoculation of people in Phase One to Four priority groups can resume, he said.

More than 21,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses are expected to arrive on Monday, said Kirilov.

He affirmed that the second doses were reserved for all people who received their first dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. All of the available AstraZeneca vaccine doses have been administered and the booster shot will be given ten weeks after the first dose.

More than 210,000 people have been vaccinated in Bulgaria so far, said Gigov. MY/DD
