site.btaCOVID-19 Update: 3,004 New Cases, Test Positivity Rate at 17.8%

March 6 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in
 Bulgaria reached 258,385, after 16,876 tests identified 3,004
new infections on Friday, according to data posted on
https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at
17.8 per cent.

A total of 1,731,143 tests have been performed in this country
since the first infections were diagnosed on March 8, 2020.

Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 734 positive
tests, followed by Bourgas Region with 428 cases and Plovdiv
Region with 208.

The active cases are 35,896. Currently, the hospitalized
patients number 5,463, including 437 in intensive care.

The infected medical staff have reached 10,420, with 55 new
cases detected since Thursday.

Another 1,280 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24
hours, bringing the total to 211,918.

Sixty-five fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds
 up to 10,571.

With 15,920 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 284,464
persons in aggregate have been vaccinated against the
coronavirus, of whom 49,938 have received both doses. RY/LG
