March 26 (BTA) - The Council of Ministers approved an
additional 96 million leva on the budget of the Health Ministry
at an extraordinary meeting on Friday, the Government
Information Service said.

The sum includes 46 million leva for the purchase of Remdesivir,
which will be used for the treatment of hospitalized
coronavirus patients until the end of September. The remaining
50 million leva will go to the National Health Insurance Fund
for the payment of 1,000 leva in April to frontline workers
engaged in the treatment of COVID patients and to health workers
 administering vaccines.

Borissov said 10 million leva left over from previous periods
would also be used in support of frontline workers.

"This decision was taken to reassure people that there are
enough drugs and the medical staff is provided for," the Prime
Minister said. He was adamant that, in spite of the upcoming
elections, the Government would not allow financial stress in
healthcare./RY/BR
